 LEVEL 3 CD-ROM
 |
The Level 2 students are meant to progress to this level. The Review
Games Section in the beginning, is actually a pre-test to determine if the
student has the previously taught skills. It is expected that the student has
this foundation and the lessons move ahead building on skills learned in Levels
1 and 2.
The section called "New Skills" Part 1 reviews the last partner
taught in Level 2 (ch) and adds the other two sounds used for ch. There are 6
sections that teach ar, or, ay, ai, oy, oi, er, ir, ur, ear, wor, and multiple
sounds of ea, oo and ed. The usual game and story accompany the lessons. A new
feature allows the student to click on a more difficult word in the story and
markings will appear that allow the student to sound it out. Indications are
available if that word also has a rule.
Jake's Secrets is a section that teaches some basic rules used both for reading
and spelling. These are in rhyme and music, and teach the concepts of the
silent e, compound words, the schwa and y as a vowel.
The Games Section at the end is a "challenge". Many of the games
require the student to spell using the partners. The puzzle game has a closure
type of comprehension. It is possible to choose the partners for each game and
the difficulty of the game.
Level 3 has 115 basic words (words taught in the lessons) and 48 challenge
words for the student to sound out. The stories are longer and have
comprehension questions. Spelling is emphasized in Level 3.
